At the event “Doing Business in Colombia: Strategic Compliance for Investment in Colombia”, held together with Camacoes – the Official Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Colombia – at JA Del Río’s offices in Bogotá, speakers analyzed the impact of the latest accounting regulatory updates, which introduce a mandatory and more standardized classification of income and expenses, as well as stricter requirements for clear financial reporting, particularly for Group 1 companies that will need to adjust their accounting structures, historical reports, and internal training programs. From a labor perspective, the agenda covered topics such as the Occupational Health and Safety Management System (SG‑SST), the gradual reduction of the working week, and the importance of preventive audits regarding the UGPP, highlighting compliance as a key tool to mitigate risks for companies operating in Colombia.

On the tax side, the discussion addressed recent developments related to the Beneficial Ownership Register (RUB), transfer pricing, and the benefits derived from the Spain–Colombia Double Taxation Treaty, emphasizing Spain’s role as a strategic partner and investor and the need for forward‑looking tax planning aligned with international standards. A cross‑cutting message throughout the session was that moving towards higher levels of transparency, sound corporate governance, international comparability, and data‑driven decision‑making is now critical to ensure business sustainability and competitiveness in the current environment.

By organizing this type of forum, we reinforce our commitment to supporting companies in understanding and implementing accounting, labor, and tax changes, particularly in a context of growing investment flows between Spain and Colombia. At JA Del Río, we put our regional experience at the service of businesses to drive data‑based decisions, greater transparency, and robust compliance that contribute to the long‑term sustainability and competitiveness of their operations in the country.
