    History



    FOUNDED ALMOST 30 YEARS AGO BY JUAN ANTONIO DEL RIO, THE FIRM OFFERS MULTILINGUAL ACCOUNTING SERVICES.



    J.A Del Río S.A. De C.V. was founded in 1988 by Juan Antonio Del Rio Troncoso, a former Touche Ross International partner (now Deloitte). It was established with the objective of offering the business community a unique, fully bilingual option in accounting, tax, and labor services to help international companies do business in Latin America.

    By focusing on our core business and collaborating with auditors and legal firms we give our clients the full service they require.

    This guiding principle has continued to this day, and has allowed for constant and controlled growth. Amongst our first clients were Honda de Mexico, Hoffmann-La Roche, McDonald´s, Flextronics, Holiday Inn, Samsung and SCI, most of which were started by the Firm.

    Our team is strategically distributed throughout Mexico and Colombia. With our head office in Guadalajara and branch offices in Monterrey, Mexico City, Leon and Colombia we provide a timely, appropriate and high-quality service throughout Latin America.

    In over 30 years of service, J.A Del Río S.A. De C.V. has developed a prestigious image in the business community based on its personal commitment to clients. The firm is recognized at the Mexican Institute of Certified Public Accountants, in the Guadalajara, Leon and Monterrey chapters. It is also a member of the International Fiscal Association.

    It is widely accepted in the local U.S. community, and is an active member of the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham), the Mexican-German Chamber of Commerce(Camexa) Japanese Chamber of Commerce of Mexico, The Franco Mexican Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mexican Business Council for Foreign Trade, Investment & Technology and the China Chamber of Commerce & Technology Mexico

    The firm, through its by laws, has a commitment to helping those less fortunate through special programs in cooperation with institutes such as the Civil Hospital in Guadalajara, and the Association Pro Cultura Association y Capacitación de la Mujer Mexicana A.C. for abused girls.

    Juan Antonio Del Río


    Born in Mexico City, Juan Antonio Del Rio Troncoso obtained his degree in accounting from the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México. He developed his career in the accounting firm of Touche Ross & Co. in Mexico City. In 1978 he was transferred to the Touche Ross Houston Office and in 1981 he joined the Executive Office of KPMG Main Hurdman in New York City, first as National Director of Operations and later as Director for Latin America collaborating with the International Executive Office in Amsterdam.

    In 1985 he returned to Mexico as a partner in charge of the department of Integrated Services of Touche Ross & Co., in Guadalajara. In July 1988 he founded J.A. Del Río y Asociados.

    A member of the Mexican Institute of CPA’s, he conducted seminars for its Guadalajara chapter. He has given conferences in several cities in Mexico and the United States. He has post-graduate degrees in taxation from the Mexican Institute of CPA’s, the Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara, and the Instituto de Especialización de Ejecutivos.


    Bernardo Antonio Del Río



    Born in Mexico City, Bernardo Del Rio spent his childhood in Houston, Texas, and Fairfield, Connecticut. He received his accounting degree from the Instituto Tecnológico de Estudios Superiores de Occidente (ITESO) in Guadalajara, and his master’s degree in tax from the Universidad del Valle de Atemajac (UNIVA). In 2002, he obtained the CPC certification by the Mexican Institute of CPA’s. He also took part in a joint program of the ITAM and Duke University in International taxes.

    Del Rio Mckee is President of the tax committee at the American Chamber of Commerce, has published several articles on tax issues, and has offered seminars in Mexico and the United States. He is an active member of the Mexican Institute of CPA’s and of the International Fiscal Association (IFA) Guadalajara Chapter.

    Bernardo Del Rio worked in the audit and tax departments of Arthur Andersen (Ruiz Urquiza in Mexico) before joining J.A Del Río S.A. De C.V. in 1998.

    He is currently the managing partner of the firm.

    Alfredo Palacios



    Born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Alfredo Palacios graduated from the Instituto Tecnológico of Ciudad Guzmán with a degree in Public Accounting. He holds a Masters in Taxes from the Institute of Specialization for Executives, a Diploma in Business Administration from the Instituto Tecnológico de Monterrey, a Diploma in International Taxes from ITAM -Duke University, as well as a Diploma in International and European Taxation from the University of Maastricht.

    He is an active participant in the Mexican Institute of Public Accountants in Guadalajara and a member of the International Tax Commission Guadalajara Chapter.

    He joined J.A. Del Río S.A. de C.V. in the tax department in 2009 and was a key element in the opening of our León office in 2016. During 2017, he played a big part in our efforts of internationalization of the firm in Bogotá, Colombia. He is currently a Partner of J.A Del Río S.A. de C.V.


  • Associates

    Alhelí Rodríguez



    Born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, she graduated from the University of Guadalajara. With more than 11 years of experience in finance and accounting, she has also obtained a certification for tax by the Mexican Institute of CPA’s, certification on Costs from the University of Guadalajara and is currently obtaining a certification for IFRS from the Tecnologico de Monterrey (ITESM).


    She joined J.A Del Río S.A. De C.V. in 2003 in the finance department. She is currently an Associate, and the Chair of the Finance Department for the firm, in this function Rodríguez Valdivia is responsible for the application and implementation of financial information standards, and translation of the financial statements under U.S. GAAP and IFRS principles.


    Luis Miguel Peñaloza



    Is a graduate of the University of Guadalajara. He has a Master Degree in Tax Analysis issued by the same institution. He is also a graduate of the International Tax Diplomate of the ITAM-Duke University. In 2018, he obtained the CPC certification by the Mexican Institute of CPA’s.

    Miguel has specialized in helping foreign companies to do business in Mexico, especially in the electronics, construction and retail industries, with issues like the implementation of international treaties and other international taxes. Miguel was instrumental in the opening of our office in Mexico City and now will be leading our efforts in the city of Leon, Guanajuato, as a Tax Associate.


    Aldo Camacho



    Born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Aldo Camacho Murillo graduated from the University of Guadalajara. He studied masters of tax at the Instituto de Especialización para Ejecutivos (IEE). He also was part of a joint program between ITAM and Duke University in International taxes. He attended other seminars and courses, and has certifications for Financial Reporting Standards and International Commerce at the Mexican Institute of CPA’s and obtained the CPA certification (CPC).

    In 2002, Camacho joined the finance department of J.A Del Río S.A. De C.V., in later transferred to the tax department in 2004. In 2006 he changed to Monterrey to oversee the start-up of our firm’s operation in that city. As of September 2011, he has returned to the Guadalajara office.

    He is an active member of the Mexican Institute of CPA’s and is currently an Associate of the firm.

    Álvaro Quezada



    Born in Guadalajara, Jalisco and graduated from the University of Guadalajara, he is a Certified Public Accountant with 15 years of experience in finance and taxes. He has obtained a diploma in Management Skills from the Instituto Tecnológico de Monterrey and a Tax Diploma from the Mexican Institute of Public Accountants in Guadalajara.

    He joined J.A. Del Río in 2007 and is currently Finance Associate in charge of our Client Accounting Service department, responsible for implementing tools and improving accounting processes for all our clients around the world. In 2016, he became a certified specialist in Intacct ERP.


    Leonardo Gámez



    Is a Public Accountant, graduated from the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León (UANL; 2004-2008). He currently holds a master’s degree in Fiscal Strategies (Honorable Mention) from the Institute of Public Accountants of Nuevo León (ICPNL, 2013 – 2014). He has been advising foreign companies from different industries wanting to do business in Mexico in tax matters for several years, among which the following stand out maquiladora companies (IMMEX), marketers, manufacturers, construction companies, services, among others.

    He is a member of the Institute of Public Accountants of Nuevo León (ICPNL) since 2013, where he is also a member of the International Tax Commission. He has been a speaker presenting various fiscal issues at several external forums such as the American Chamber of Commerce in Monterrey and has written several tax articles in Mexico as well as other related topics.

    He has been at J.A. del Rio since January 2010 and is currently Tax Associate in charge of the Monterrey office.

    Erik Estrada



    Graduated as a Public Accountant from the University of Guadalajara. He is an active member of Guadalajara´s Institute of Certified Public Accountants since 2012 and is also a member of the Institute´s International Tax Commission.

    He has taken part as a speaker in numerous talks organized by different organizations such as the American Chamber of Commerce, National Chamber of the Tequila Industry and the University of Guadalajara, amongst others, he has also written articles regarding taxes in Mexico.

    He has 13 years´ experience providing tax consulting to a large number of companies regarding Mexican and International taxes, his works is specially recognized regarding taxes for service IMMEX programs in IT and startups companies internationally.

    Erik is now our newest Tax Associate at our Guadalajara office.

    Cynthia Yáñez



    Public Accountant graduated from the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León, where she subsequently completed his master’s degree in tax studies. Cynthia joined JA Del Río in 2007 in our Monterrey office, in the tax department, serving foreign clients from different industries such as maquiladoras, marketers, software developers, service providers, among others. She has carried out the implementation of ERP systems in the cloud for our clients and is certified as an Intacct Specialist (cloud-based ERP).

    She has participated as a lecturer in different external forums such as the American Chamber of Commerce in Monterrey and has prepared tax articles published by the firm. Cynthia is also a member of the Institute of Public Accountants of Nuevo León (ICPNL).

    She currently serves as Tax Associate of the Monterrey Office for JA Del Río.

    Quetzelli Ruvalcaba



    Certified Public Accountant graduated from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM; 1996-2001). Quetzelli holds a diploma in Tax Law, a diploma in International Taxes from the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México and Duke University as well as a diploma in Financial Comptrolling from the Mexican Institute of Public Accountants. She worked 17 years for one of the Big Four advising companies in the area of Corporate Taxes in Mexico, showing leadership in the development of several projects in compliance, strategy, advice, and tax audit.

    She has been a member of the Mexican Institute of Public Accountants (IMCP) since 2005 and from 2009 to 2012 she was part of the legislative committee of the same institute.

    As of July 2019, Quetzelli is a member of the firm JA Del Rio and currently serves as a Tax Associate of the Mexico City Office.

    Fabio Osorio



    Fabio is an accountant graduated from the Faculty of Economic and Accounting Sciences of the Universidad Santo Tomas de Bogotá. He has a Master’s degree in international taxation from the International University of La Rioja, Spain, as well as a diploma in international standards (IFRS) from the University of Asturias.

    He has extensive experience providing tax advisory services, including tax consulting, tax diagnosis in "Due Diligence" processes, national and international tax planning work and tax compliance work.

    Fabio also has taken part in different tax update seminars, both nationally and internationally.

    He currently serves as Tax Associate in Colombia for JA Del Río.

    Enrique Pérez



    Enrique has a bachelor’s degree in Public Accounting as well as a specialty in Finance from the Universidad Panamericana. He also has a master’s degree in Advanced Studies in International Tax Law from the University of Leiden (ITC), and a degree in Law from the Universidad Tecnológica de México. He is an active member of the Mexican Institute of Public Accountants, and IFA Mexican Group’s Study Committee.

    He has 18 years of experience as a tax specialist, addressing issues related to domestic legislation and international taxes, within the frame of the Double Taxation Agreements concluded by Mexico and their interpretation under the Vienna Convention, the OECD Model Convention, and the UN Model Convention.

    During his career, he has worked for firms such as EY, Chevez, Ruiz, Zamarripa y Cía SC, as well as in the Tax Administration Service (SAT), where he served as International Tax Officer of High-income Taxpayers.
